Kishtwar (The Uttam Hindu): An encounter broke out early this morning between security forces and terrorists in the Kalaban forest area of Chhatroo in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. According to official sources, one soldier was injured in the exchange of fire and has been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

The White Knight Corps confirmed on social media platform X that police had received intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. Following this, a joint operation was launched by the Army, police, and CRPF, named ‘Operation Chhatroo.’

Both sides exchanged heavy fire, and security forces have cordoned off the entire area. Sources said that two to three terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the region. The group has reportedly been active in the higher forest areas of Kishtwar for the past few months. Security forces had been monitoring their movements and have carried out several such counter-terrorism operations in recent months.
