Fake medicines bearing branded labels seized as Delhi Police Crime Branch busts illegal factory

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi Police Crime Branch has taken a major action against the counterfeit drug trade and uncovered an illegal factory operating in the Loni area of Ghaziabad, where counterfeit skin-related medicines were being manufactured on a large scale. These medicines were being supplied throughout North India, posing a serious risk to public health.
The Crime Branch had been receiving information about an active counterfeit drug network in Delhi and surrounding areas for some time. Based on this information, the police launched an investigation and located a factory in Loni. Subsequently, the police team raided the factory and busted it.
Fake medicines labeled with well-known companies; Delhi Police Crime Branch busts illegal factory; supplies spread across North India : During the raid, the police recovered a large number of fake medicines for skin diseases, huge quantity of raw material, medicine manufacturing machines, labels and packaging resembling that of well-known companies. Investigation revealed that the fake medicines manufactured in the factory were being supplied to many big medicine markets including Sadar Bazaar of Delhi. In this connection, the Crime Branch team also took action in Sadar Bazaar and seized a consignment of fake medicines. According to the police, this network was active for a long time and many people associated with it were earning huge profits.
Police have arrested two accused in this case. One is said to be the factory owner, while the other was involved in the supply and distribution of the drugs. Both are being interrogated to gather information about other individuals involved in this racket and the entire network.
