New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing high tension and war-like situation between Iran, America and Israel in the Middle East has created an atmosphere of fear in the entire world. While on one hand all the countries are hoping for an early end to this war, on the other hand Pakistan is not desisting from its nefarious activities. Under the guise of this war, Pakistan has hatched a deep conspiracy to tarnish India's international image. An AI-generated deepfake video in the name of the Indian Army Chief is being made viral on social media to spread the false illusion that India had shared the secret location of the Iranian Navy warship 'IRIS Dena' with Israel.

PIB debunks misleading claim, video turns out to be deepfake

The Indian government's official fact-checking unit (PIB Fact Check) has exposed this Pakistani propaganda, calling the claim completely baseless, false, and misleading. The PIB investigation has revealed that the viral video is a dangerous deepfake created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The video deliberately uses the name and voice of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi to create a false narrative. The fact-check has made it absolutely clear that General Dwivedi never made such a statement, and this fake clip is actually a doctored footage of a speech he delivered at the Raisina Dialogue.

Strict instructions to digital platforms, appeal not to share unverified news

According to government sources, this is a well-planned and organized propaganda campaign being run by some propaganda accounts linked to Pakistan to tarnish India's credibility. In view of this serious matter, the government has issued strict instructions to digital platforms under the new Information Technology (IT) rules to take immediate and strict action against such fake and manipulated videos. According to the rules, it is mandatory to clearly state on AI-created content that it is generated, so as to prevent the general public from being misled. The government has also appealed to the media and common citizens not to share any sensitive video or claim going viral on social media without verifying it from an official and reliable source.
