Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing farmers' protest in Punjab is now having a direct impact on railway traffic. Keeping in mind the safety and inconvenience of passengers, the railway department has taken several important decisions. In fact, trains running on this route have come to a halt due to the massive protests by farmers between Batala and Jaintipur. In view of the situation, the railway administration has cancelled several trains on this route and has also made major changes to the routes of some important trains.

Route of Delhi-Pathankot Superfast Express changed

Major trains affected by this protest include the Delhi-Pathankot Superfast Express (train number 22429/22430). According to information provided by the railway, this train will no longer travel via its scheduled Amritsar-Batala-Gurdaspur route. Due to the protests on this route, the train has been diverted and will travel via Jalandhar City to Pathankot. This is a very important update for passengers traveling on this train.

Passengers of local and passenger trains also got a shock

Due to this farmers' protest, not only long-distance express trains but also daily local commuters are facing significant inconvenience. As a precautionary measure, the railway administration has also canceled several local DMU and passenger trains running between Amritsar and Pathankot with immediate effect. The railway department is continuously monitoring the situation so that traffic can be resumed as soon as the situation returns to normal.
