Raipur (The Uttam Hindu): Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra, who is often in the headlines for her statements, is once again in trouble. An FIR has been registered against her at the Mana police station in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, for a very objectionable statement made against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Police confirmed this on Sunday (August 31).

In fact, TMC MP Mahua Moitra, while talking to reporters in Nadia district of West Bengal, made a controversial statement regarding Bangladeshi infiltration. When she was questioned on infiltration, she targeted the central government and said, "If (Amit) Shah fails to stop infiltration from Bangladesh, then first of all you should cut off his head and put it on your table." She said that border security is the responsibility of the Union Home Ministry, in which Home Minister Amit Shah has completely failed.

According to the police, this FIR was registered against the TMC MP on Saturday on the complaint of a local resident Gopal Samant. A case has been registered against him under sections 196 (promoting enmity between different groups) and 197 (speaking prejudicial to national integration) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS).

The complainant alleged that Moitra's statement was not only objectionable and unconstitutional but it was also creating an atmosphere of fear among Bangladeshi refugees living in Mana Camp area of Raipur and could trigger anger among other communities.
