Flights Could Be Affected: Airport Issues Passenger Alert Due to Bad Weather

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has issued a travel advisory for passengers in view of heavy rains on Monday. The administration has advised passengers to get information about their flight before leaving the airport.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has issued this advisory for passengers in view of the forecast of heavy rains in Mumbai. The airport said in a statement, "Due to the forecast of bad weather and heavy rains, passengers are requested to check the status of their flights by contacting their respective airlines before leaving for the airport." The statement further said that all passengers are advised to reach the airport a little earlier than the usual time, so that there is enough time for security check. Thank you for your cooperation. Earlier, on August 17, the airline company IndiGo had issued a travel advisory for passengers in view of heavy rains in Mumbai. IndiGo had appealed to the passengers to leave home a little earlier than their scheduled time and keep in mind the possible delay in reaching the airport. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Mumbai, due to which changes or delays in flight timings are possible.
The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall to continue in Maharashtra from August 16 to 21. According to the weather department, heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places, while extremely heavy rainfall at a few places is likely over Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra till August 21. Marathwada region is likely to receive widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall at sporadic places during this period. The weather department has predicted lightning and thunder along with strong winds at speeds of 40-50 kmph at times.
