Goa club fire: Luthra brothers detained in Thailand, to be deported to India soon

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Luthra brothers, accused in the Goa club fire incident, have been detained in Thailand and will soon be deported to India. The process for their deportation is already underway. The fire at a Goa nightclub had claimed the lives of 25 people, after which both brothers Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra fled to Thailand. Reports confirm that the two have now been taken into custody in Thailand, and preparations to bring them back to India have accelerated.
Earlier, the Indian government had taken strict action by cancelling the passports of both brothers. This move came after a request from the Goa government. The Luthra brothers had left the country on the morning of December 7 and travelled to Phuket, Thailand. An Interpol Blue Corner Notice had also been issued against them.
According to officials, Gaurav and Saurabh booked their flight tickets through MakeMyTrip at 1:17 AM on December 7. At that very time, firefighters and police personnel were struggling to control the blaze and rescue people trapped inside the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora. One officer said that while Goa Police and the fire department were battling the massive fire and trying to save lives, the Luthra brothers were busy preparing their escape from the country.
