Government ruining future of Vaishno Devi University students: Srinagar MP Ruhullah

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): National Conference (NC) leader and Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi strongly criticized the government, accusing it of destroying the future of thousands of young people in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed serious anger over the injustice being faced by meritorious students at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in Katra.
On Monday night, the MP posted on social media platform ‘X’, saying that for more than a year, bright students of Vaishno Devi University have been pleading for justice. He said the government earlier promised that the issue would be resolved in six months, but those six months stretched into a year. During elections in Budgam, the government again said “just a few more days”, and even those few days have now extended to more than a month. He questioned who would compensate these students for the lost year and thousands of missed vacancies.
Ruhullah called this situation an act that is “choking the youth” and wondered whether this delay was happening simply because he was raising the students’ concerns. He added, “Fine, if I am the obstacle, I will step back completely for one month. Meet the students, understand them, and solve the matter. Abuse me, defame me, turn them against me, but do not destroy their careers.”
He warned that if the issue remains unresolved even after the winter session of Parliament ends on 20 December, he will sit with the students outside Parliament for an indefinite protest. He reminded that he had also staged a one-day protest last December, but this time he will not step back.
