Gujarat factory engulfed in massive fire, two workers die painful death

Mehsana (The Uttam Hindu): Two workers were burnt to death and several others were injured in a massive fire at a fertilizer factory in Mehsana district of Gujarat early today. The incident took place at around 3 am in a company located in Panoli GIDC. The fire was so devastating that its flames were visible from far away and a cloud of black smoke covered the sky.

According to an officer of Mehsana Rural Police Station, six workers were working in the night shift at the fertilizer plant located near Samitra village when the fire broke out. More than 15 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported.

A fire brigade official said that it took about an hour to control the fire. After the fire was extinguished, the burnt bodies of two workers were recovered from the factory. Police have identified the deceased as Manish, a resident of Bihar and Phoolchand, a resident of Maharashtra. Two other workers injured in the accident have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police have sent both the bodies for postmortem. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and further investigation into the case is underway.
