New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Ekadashi fast, observed twice every month during the Shukla and Krishna Paksha, holds special importance in Hindu tradition. It is believed that observing Ekadashi brings the blessings of Lord Vishnu and ensures prosperity, wealth, and happiness in the household. In this sequence, the last Ekadashi of the year 2025 Putrada Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha in the Paush month will be observed on 30 December 2025.
What is Putrada Ekadashi?
Putrada Ekadashi is observed twice a year, once during the Shravan month and again in the Paush month. According to religious beliefs, this fast blesses devotees with child happiness, good health of children, and their overall progress. Couples seeking progeny are also advised to observe this fast with devotion.
Putrada Ekadashi 2025: Date and auspicious timings
As per the Hindu calendar, the Ekadashi Tithi will begin on 30 December at 7:50 am and will end on 31 December at 5:00 am.
The Parana (fast-breaking) time is considered auspicious between 1:26 pm and 3:31 pm on 31 December.
Do these four things on the last Ekadashi of the year
– Light an oil lamp under the Peepal tree and chant “Om Namo Narayanaya Namah”; it is believed to bring lasting prosperity in life.
– Offer bananas to Lord Vishnu and feed a cow with ghee-roti and jaggery; this is associated with growth in wealth and food abundance.
– Perform Abhishek of Lord Vishnu with Panchamrit; it is believed to remove obstacles and bring success in career and business.
– Light a lamp near the Tulsi plant in the evening; it is believed to enhance peace and prosperity in the home.
