Visakhapatnam (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident occurred on Friday at Duvvada Railway Station in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where a serving Indian Army jawan died by suicide by lying in front of a moving train at Platform No. 1. The deceased was identified as Neelampu Venkata Reddy, a resident of the Pedagantyada area in Visakhapatnam.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing that moments before the train reached the platform, Venkata Reddy suddenly stepped onto the track and lay down. Before anyone could intervene, the high-speed train passed over him, resulting in his death on the spot.

Eyewitnesses said the incident happened within seconds, leaving no time for rescue. The jawan deliberately placed his head under the wheels of the train, triggering panic and chaos among passengers present at the station.

After receiving information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot immediately. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem and legal formalities. A case has been registered, and investigation is underway.

Police said the reason behind the suicide is not yet clear. No suicide note has been recovered so far. Family members and friends are being questioned to determine whether the jawan was under mental stress or facing any other issues. Officials stated that the exact cause will be known only after completion of the investigation.
