New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): IIT Delhi has performed brilliantly in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and has been ranked among the top 125 higher education institutions in the world. According to the QS World University Rankings 2026 ranking, IIT Delhi has emerged as the number-1 educational institution in India.

IIT Delhi says that this ranking was released on Thursday. IIT Delhi has performed brilliantly in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and has been ranked among the top 125 higher education institutions in the world. This time IIT Delhi has seen a significant jump in the global ranking, rising from 150th rank last year to 123rd rank this year. This is the highest QS World Ranking achieved by IIT Delhi so far.

On this success of IIT Delhi in the ranking, Professor Vivek Buva, Head of the Ranking Cell of the Institute and Dean of Planning, said, “This is a proud moment for IIT Delhi. I would like to congratulate more than 64,000 current and former students, faculty members, Ministry of Education (Government of India) and all stakeholders who have contributed to this success. These rankings provide an opportunity for introspection and help identify areas where further improvement is needed. With the efforts of all stakeholders, IIT Delhi has consistently improved on various parameters and has a strong possibility of making it to the top 100 world-class universities.”

IIT Delhi has also performed well in various indicators of QS Rankings 2026. In terms of employer reputation, the institute has been ranked among the top 50 institutions in the world. IIT Delhi is among the top 90 institutions in the citations per faculty indicator, which reflects the quality of scientific research. In academic reputation, the institute has been ranked among the top 150 globally.

IIT Delhi is in the list of top 175 institutions in the sustainability indicator. Along with securing the number-1 position overall in India, IIT Delhi has been counted among the top two institutions in the country under several ranking indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation and sustainability.

The QS World University Rankings 2026 evaluated over 8,400 institutions globally. IIT says this success not only reflects the excellence of IIT Delhi but also reinforces the global recognition of India's higher education sector.
