New Delhi/Jeddah (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian government has taken immediate action following the horrific accident involving a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims from Hyderabad in Saudi Arabia on Monday. Forty-two Indian passengers died in this tragic incident. According to the latest information, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah has set up a 24x7 control room to assist the families of the victims.

According to local media, the tragic accident occurred when a bus carrying passengers collided with a diesel tanker, causing a massive fire. The Indian Embassy has issued a 24-hour helpline number to provide information and assistance to victims of the bus accident near Medina.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government has also been fully active following the news of the tragedy. The state government stated that it is in constant contact with the Indian embassies in Riyadh and Jeddah. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed state officials in Delhi to coordinate closely with the embassy to assist in the speedy identification of victims and other formalities related to the repatriation of bodies.
