New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India has expressed serious concern over the recent developments in Venezuela following the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife after a reported US action. The incident has drawn global attention, and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has now issued India’s first major response on the matter.

Speaking during his visit to Luxembourg, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that India is deeply concerned about the situation in Venezuela and believes that the issue must be resolved through dialogue. He stated that all parties should come together and engage in discussions to find a peaceful solution, stressing that this is essential for the welfare and safety of the Venezuelan people.

Jaishankar highlighted that India has shared friendly relations with Venezuela for many years and wants stability and security for its citizens. He added that dialogue remains the only effective way forward in such a sensitive situation.

The statement was made after Jaishankar’s bilateral meeting with Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel. Earlier, India’s Ministry of External Affairs had also expressed concern over the situation in Venezuela and appealed to all sides to maintain peace.

The Ministry of External Affairs informed that the Indian Embassy in Caracas is in constant contact with Indian nationals living in Venezuela. As a precautionary measure, Indian citizens have been advised to avoid travelling to Venezuela for the time being. An emergency helpline number, +58-412-9584288, has also been issued for Indians residing in the country.
