India slams Pakistan at UNSC, recalls 1971 genocide in Bangladesh

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan has once again been humiliated in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). India delivered a befitting reply to Pakistan for raising the issue of Kashmiri women. India's representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, completely rejected Pakistan's arguments, stating that the neighboring country continues to live in a world of illusion.
In fact, during the UNSC debate on women's peace and security, Pakistan once again raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Responding on behalf of India, Parvathaneni Harish said, "Unfortunately, every year we have to listen to Pakistan's misleading narrative about our country, and specifically about Jammu and Kashmir."
Harish, in a scathing retort to Pakistan, said that it was the same country that carried out Operation Searchlight in 1971, in which the Pakistani army committed mass rape and massacre of over 400,000 women. He said, "The world understands Pakistan's false propaganda and its double standards."
India's response followed comments by Saima Saleem, a member of Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, who stated that "Kashmiri women have been used as weapons of war and subjected to sexual violence for decades." India clarified that Pakistan's statement is not only false and misleading, but also a failed attempt to divert attention in international forums.
