New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) - Indian Railways said that 31,814 tickets were booked per minute on 22 May. This is the highest ever figure of ticket booking in the history of railways. This figure also shows the capacity of the railway's ticket booking platform.

Apart from this, the railways said that while taking action against unauthorized automated booking, its AI-powered system has deactivated 2.5 crore suspicious user IDs for ticket booking. The Railway Ministry said in a statement that new user protocols will be issued to further increase fairness and efficiency.

Railways said, "Users who have not authenticated through Aadhaar will be able to book Advance Reservation Period (ARP), Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets three days after registration. At the same time, Aadhaar-verified users can book tickets without any delay."

The average daily user login has increased from 69.08 lakh in FY 2023-24 to 82.57 lakh in FY 2024-25, registering a growth of 19.53 per cent, while the average daily ticket booking grew by 11.85 per cent during the same period, railways said.

Additionally, the share of e-ticketing has now increased to 86.38% of total reserved ticket bookings. Indian Railways has undertaken a major digital overhaul of its ticketing infrastructure. Through deployment of state-of-the-art anti-bot systems and integration with a leading Content Delivery Network (CDN) service provider, Railways has significantly curbed unauthorized automated bookings by unscrupulous agents and improved the accessibility of the website for real users.

The new system has effectively reduced all bot traffic, which peaks during the first five minutes of an instant. During this period, bot traffic accounts for up to 50 percent of total login attempts.
