New Delhi ( Uttam Hindu News): The Indian Navy is set to commission INS Androth, the second anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft, under its indigenous construction program. It will be commissioned into the Navy on Monday at a grand ceremony at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Commander-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, will be present on the occasion.

The commissioning of INS Androth signifies the Indian Navy's continued commitment towards enhanced combat capability and indigenisation.

In recent months, several state-of-the-art warships have been inducted into the naval fleet. This strengthening of the naval fleet has significantly enhanced India's maritime power and technological prowess.

INS Androth, built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, Kolkata, is a prime example of India's growing maritime self-reliance. The warship uses over 80 percent indigenous content, in line with the objectives of 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. The ship reinforces the Indian Navy's vision of developing advanced military capabilities through indigenous technology, innovation, and collaboration with domestic industries.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the commissioning of INS Androth will significantly strengthen the Navy's anti-submarine warfare capabilities. The ship is particularly important in countering submarine threats in coastal or shallow waters.

The recent inductions of warships like Arnala, Nistar, Udayagiri, Nilgiri and now INS Androth are symbols of the balanced and comprehensive growth of the Indian Navy. All these ships embody India's spirit of 'self-reliance'.

The majority of the design, construction and technical expertise in these naval ships comes from Indian shipyards and industries. The commissioning of INS Androth also embodies the Indian Navy's vision of steadily progressing towards establishing India as a self-reliant, capable and modern maritime power
