Mid-Air Scare: IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A major aviation scare was averted on Wednesday night when an IndiGo flight (6E 6271) en route from Delhi to Goa made an emergency landing at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) due to a technical snag detected mid-air. The flight, operated by an Airbus A320neo, was diverted as a precautionary measure and landed safely at 9:52 PM, shortly after a "full emergency" was declared at 9:35 PM.
Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers were safely deboarded and received necessary assistance from terminal staff. “There has been no impact on overall airport operations. At CSMIA, safety always remains our highest priority,” the official statement read. The emergency status was lifted at 9:57 PM, and an alternative aircraft was arranged to complete the passengers' journey to Goa.
An IndiGo spokesperson expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured that the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft remains the airline’s top priority. This incident follows a similar emergency landing last week when an IndiGo flight from Patna to Delhi returned to the airport after a bird strike shortly after takeoff, underscoring the critical role of timely decisions in ensuring passenger safety.
