Big Mishap Averted: IndiGo Plane's Engine Catches Fire Before Takeoff

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Another plane in Ahmedabad narrowly escaped an accident. According to the information, the engine of an Indigo flight about to take off for Diu suddenly caught fire. Due to which all the passengers sitting in the plane were left breathless.
According to the information, there were about 60 passengers on the plane. As soon as the information about the fire was received, the pilot gave a 'Mayday' call to ATC and the plane was stopped from taking off. After this, the passengers were safely evacuated from the plane and the flight was cancelled. However, an IndiGo spokesperson said that the flight was cancelled after a technical fault was detected in the flight. This flight was ATR76, which was to take off from Ahmedabad airport at 11 am. According to reports, the plane had just started rolling on the runway after getting clearance from ATC. After this rolling, the plane takes off. But then the engine of the flight caught fire and the pilot gave a Mayday call to the Air Traffic Control.
According to an IndiGo spokesperson, following the standard operating procedure, the pilot informed the authorities and the plane was sent back to the 'bay'. IndiGo said that necessary checks and maintenance will be carried out before the flight is put into operation.
