Nagpur (The Uttam Hindu): An IndiGo flight from Nagpur to Kolkata (Flight No. 6E812) made an emergency landing on Monday after a bird strike. The incident occurred shortly after take-off when the aircraft’s nose section hit a bird, causing minor damage.

The pilot, assessing the seriousness of the situation, decided to return and safely land the aircraft at Nagpur Airport. All 272 passengers on board were safe.

Some passengers experienced panic when the plane briefly became unstable, but the timely response and calm handling by the pilot and crew avoided a major mishap.

Nagpur Airport Senior Director Abid Ruhi confirmed the incident, stating that the possibility of a bird hit is under investigation.

Notably, this is not the first such case this month. On June 2, an IndiGo flight heading to Ranchi also made an emergency landing after a bird strike, though all 175 passengers were unharmed.

Aviation experts point out that bird strikes commonly occur during take-off and landing, posing potential risks to engines or other vital aircraft components.
