New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): At the beginning of December, the sudden cancellation of hundreds of IndiGo flights caused chaos for passengers across the country. After strict action from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the airline has now announced major relief for the affected travellers. IndiGo has offered not only cash compensation but also travel vouchers for future journeys.

Cash Compensation Along With Travel Vouchers

IndiGo clarified that passengers who suffered inconvenience due to the cancellations on 3, 4 and 5 December will receive compensation between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000 as per government guidelines. The amount will depend on the flight distance, ticket class and the passenger’s level of inconvenience. This compensation is aimed at covering the financial losses and travel disruptions faced by passengers.

Additionally, the airline has announced extra benefits for the most severely affected travellers. Those whose flights were rescheduled multiple times or who had to wait long hours at the airport will receive separate travel vouchers worth up to ₹10,000.

Vouchers Valid for One Year

A major advantage of these travel vouchers is their long validity. Passengers can use them anytime within the next 12 months. The vouchers will be applicable on both domestic and international IndiGo flights, whether travelling within India or abroad.

How to Claim?

To ensure a smooth claim process, IndiGo has advised all affected passengers to keep checking their registered email IDs and mobile numbers. The airline is sending detailed information regarding the compensation and voucher claim directly to travellers.

In its official statement, IndiGo expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers. The airline assured that it is committed to improving operations so that such disruptions do not occur in the future.
