Cold drives terrorists from mountains to plains, intelligence warns of possible infiltration
Jammu (The Uttam Hindu): As the temperature drops in the cold weather, the difficulties for terrorists hiding in the high mountainous areas have increased. Intelligence agencies have issued an alert that terrorists are now seeking shelter in the plains and lower areas to escape the cold. To do this, they are contacting their local helpers (overground workers).
Following the intelligence input, the security forces have become fully alert and large-scale raids and search operations have been carried out across the Jammu division to foil these plans of the terrorists.
Providing details of this extensive operation, Doda SSP Sandeep Mehta said the operation is being carried out to identify and dismantle local support networks for terrorist organizations. He added that the homes of
slain terrorists, surrendered terrorists, and other suspects are also being searched during the searches.
SSP Mehta stressed that the police are also monitoring potential sleeper cells and online propagandists who may be targeting local youth. He warned that strict legal action will continue against anyone who aids or abets terrorist activities.
Preventive action to maintain peace: Ramban Police
Similar operations were also observed in Ramban district. Ramban SSP Arun Gupta said, "These operations are part of our preventive and intelligence-based operations. The main objective is to maintain peace and stability in the area at all costs."
He said that various teams of police and security forces conducted thorough searches at suspicious premises to ensure that no anti-national or illegal activity was going on.

Security forces have clarified that such surprise searches will continue in the future. Authorities have appealed to the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and immediately share information about any suspicious individuals or activities in their areas. Police have assured that the identities of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
