ISRO's Ambitious Space Plan: Over 100 Satellites to Launch, Preps for Chandrayaan-8 Ahead of Moon Human Mission

Ahmedabad (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has made a big announcement revealing its ambitious plans for the future. ISRO is preparing to launch more than 100 satellites in the next 15 years i.e. by 2040. These satellites will fulfill India's important needs like earth monitoring, communication and navigation and will take the country's technological capabilities to new heights.
This announcement was made by Nilesh Desai, Director of ISRO's Ahmedabad Centre. Presenting the roadmap of ISRO's 'Vision 2047', he said that now more emphasis will be laid on the use of indigenous technology for self-reliance in space.
Target of 7 to 8 missions every year
According to ISRO chief V. Narayanan, the space agency is working on increasing the pace of its launches. To achieve the target of more than 100 missions, an average of 7 to 8 missions will be launched every year. He said that a big change is coming in the space sector and these missions will gradually give big strategic and economic benefits to the country. Currently, more than 350 private space companies in the country are also actively working in this field.
Roadmap ready to send humans to the moon
ISRO has prepared a detailed roadmap to fulfill its ambitious goal of sending humans to the moon by 2040. Before this historic human mission, ISRO will carry out a whole series of missions up to Chandrayaan-8. In this sequence, Chandrayaan-4 and Chandrayaan-5 missions are expected to be launched by 2027-28, whose main objective will be to collect samples from the surface of the moon and bring them back to Earth. Notably, the Chandrayaan-5 mission will be a collaborative effort with Japan's space agency JAXA. After these initial missions, Chandrayaan-6, 7 and 8 will be launched, which will focus on testing critical technologies required for human missions and gathering detailed information about the lunar surface, to pave the way for Indian astronauts.
According to the plan, out of the more than 100 satellites to be launched, about 80 satellites will be for earth monitoring, especially ground-related experiments. The remaining satellites will help in studying the ocean and the atmosphere. Apart from this, ISRO will also launch 16 missions that will demonstrate its advancing technology.
