New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran and the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, news of a major relief has emerged for India. The Indian-flagged LPG gas tanker "Jag Vikram" has safely transited the Strait of Hormuz. After transiting this highly sensitive and strategic waterway on April 11, the ship has reached the Gulf of Oman and is now rapidly moving toward India.

Expected to reach Kandla on April 14, normal operations at ports

Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Shipping and Waterways, confirmed the development and shared important information. He stated that the ship, "Jag Vikram," is carrying approximately 20,400 metric tons of LPG gas and has 24 sailors on board. The ship successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz between Friday night and Saturday morning. It is expected to arrive at Kandla Port in Gujarat by April 14. The ministry also clarified that operations at all Indian ports are operating normally, with no reports of congestion or blockages.

15 Indian ships still stranded, eyes on US action

According to data, the Jag Vikram has become the ninth Indian ship to safely exit the Persian Gulf since the beginning of March. However, the real concern is that 15 Indian ships are still stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, several foreign-flagged ships carrying essential cargo for India are also stranded in this waterway. The recent US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has increased tensions in global trade. The entire world is now watching to see whether the remaining ships stranded there will be able to safely transit after the US intervention and blockade, or whether their routes will be completely blocked.
