Jammu-Kashmir: CRPF, Police foil major terror plot after IED discovered on highway, traffic suspended

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu) : Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir foiled a major terrorist plot. On Saturday, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found near Haigam in the Sopore area of North Kashmir on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway. Upon receiving information, a joint team of the Army, CRPF, and police reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area. As a precautionary measure, traffic on both sides of the highway was immediately stopped, and vehicles were diverted to alternative routes.
A bomb disposal squad was called in to investigate. According to police officials, the team seized the improvised explosive device (IED) from the scene, examined it, and then destroyed it in a controlled manner. There was some panic during the incident, though no injuries were reported. Officials said the investigation into who placed the IED and when is ongoing. A search operation is underway in the area, and suspicious activity is being monitored.
