Kapil Sharma's cafe firing case: 2 youths arrested in Canada, charged in double shooting
Charged with reckless firing in cafe attack and home firing where a woman was injured. Cafe was targeted earlier also.

Vancouver (The Uttam Hindu): Police have filed charges against two youths in the second case related to the firing at Indian comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Surrey city of Canada and the injury of a woman.
British Columbia's provincial Anti-Extortion Task Force announced charges Friday against Pardeep Singh and Savir Khan, both 22. They were arrested in Surrey on November 1 and are currently in custody.
Both men have been charged with two counts of reckless discharge of a weapon in connection with two separate shooting incidents, one count for each incident. However, these charges have yet to be proven in court.
According to Canadian media outlet The Canadian Press, the shooting occurred at Kapil Sharma's cafe, Cups Cafe. The date and location details released by police match the attack on the establishment on October 16, 2025.
The cafe was closed at the time of the incident, but two employees were inside. Both remained unharmed and no one was injured in the shooting.
Four days earlier, on Oct. 12, a shooting also occurred at a home in the 13000 block of 103A Avenue, injuring a woman.
The provincial Anti-Extortion Task Force took over the investigation after a possible connection between the two incidents emerged. The Surrey Police Service and the British Columbia Joint Special Enforcement Unit also assisted in the arrest.
Senior RCMP officer Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound said the investigation, which involved search warrants, judicial authorizations and evidence analysis, lasted more than a year before the charges were laid.
Pound said police understand and share the concerns these incidents have raised in the local community. He said these charges also reflect the coordination among various law enforcement agencies against extortion-related violence.
However, the police release did not mention any specific extortion demands as the reason for the two shootings. The nationalities of the suspects were also not confirmed.
The Canadian Press reported that Cups Cafe had been targeted by gunfire twice before the October 2025 incident. Videos from the attackers' perspective circulated widely on social media.
The British Columbia government established the Provincial Anti-Extortion Task Force in September 2025. This RCMP-led unit aims to coordinate investigations into violent extortion-related incidents in the province.
