Major action in Karur stampede case, FIR against two leaders of Vijay’s party

Karur (The Uttam Hindu): Police have taken major action in the case of stampede at the rally of actor Vijay's party "Tamizhaga Vetri Kalagam" (TVK) in Karur, Tamil Nadu. Considering the seriousness of the matter, police have registered an FIR against two local TVK leaders, Anand and Nirmal Kumar. Police are now investigating how and why the rules were violated when the rally was permitted for a limited number and a fixed time.
Speaking about the incident, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) S. Davidson Devasirvatham stated that the organizers had obtained permission for a rally of 10,000 people. This permission was granted from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Despite this, a massive crowd of approximately 50,000 people gathered at the site, and people were allowed to gather at the rally site as early as 11 a.m., a clear violation of the conditions.
When ADGP Devasirvatham was asked whether any action would be taken against actor Vijay in this case or if he would be called in for questioning, he clarified that a decision would be made only after the investigation. He said, "First, let us complete the investigation and based on whatever facts emerge, further decisions will be made. We are investigating where the problem actually originated."
The ADGP stated that the scene has been inspected and the injured are being questioned. He added, "The site of the accident in Karur is a long, straight road. Around 500 police personnel were deployed at the scene, while the crowd was estimated to be around 50,000. Whatever the investigation reveals will be shared; please give us some time."
