Kashmir connection: Delhi blast suspect Dr. Umar's family, 6 others held in overnight crackdown

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): Immediately following the suicide attack near the Red Fort in the capital, Delhi, security agencies took a major action and detained six suspects in South Kashmir overnight. The main suspect in this attack is Dr. Umar, three of whose family members were also detained in Pulwama.

Police say that the Hyundai i20 car used in the attack was purchased by Dr. Omar. Furthermore, the man seen in CCTV footage in the car also resembles Omar.

Investigations have revealed links to the Faridabad RDX module

Dr. Umar was in contact with two other doctors who have already been arrested by police. According to police, this attack may be linked to the RDX module recently seized from Faridabad.

Dr. Muzammil was arrested in Faridabad two days ago with 350 kilograms of RDX and two AK-47 rifles. Dr. Umar has been missing since the investigation into the RDX case involving Dr. Muzammil began. Police believe the man in the car was linked to the Faridabad module, although this can only be fully confirmed after a DNA test.

Investigation also revealed that Dr. Umar had also visited Dr. Muzammil's village.

Six people arrested in Kashmir include three family members of the main suspect, Amir Rashid Mir (plumber), Umar Rashid Mir (Power Development Department employee), and Tariq Malik (bank security guard). A special police team is interrogating all of them.

According to police sources, the investigation into this entire module began after a Jaish poster was found in Nowgam on October 19. Several people had been detained and questioned in this case previously, but such a large-scale conspiracy was not suspected.

Seven individuals associated with Dr. Muzammil were also arrested on Monday. These included Arif Nisar Dar, Yasir Ul Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmed Dar. Maulvi Irfan Ahmed, Zameer Ahmed Ahangar, and Musaib were also arrested from Nowgam, while Dr. Adil was arrested from Kulgam.
