Kashmir landslide chaos: Boulders rain down on highway, panic ensues

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): A landslide has occurred on the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri National Highway (NH-1) in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. A portion of a hill near Uri suddenly slid, dumping a large amount of debris onto the highway, blocking vehicular traffic. A video of the incident is rapidly going viral on social media.

The landslide caused panic among drivers and passengers on the highway as stones and debris fell from the mountains. People were seen alighting from their vehicles and running for safety. Fortunately, there were no reports of any injuries or property damage.
It is reported that several vehicles were on the highway at the time of the landslide. Due to the timely alertness of the people, a major accident was averted. As a precaution, the administration has temporarily suspended vehicular traffic on NH-1. The administration and related agencies have arrived at the scene, and the work of removing debris from the highway is progressing rapidly. Traffic will be restored only after the situation returns to normal.
