New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has stirred debate with a bold statement claiming he deserves a Nobel Prize for governance and administration. Speaking at the launch of the Punjabi edition of his book ‘The Kejriwal Model’ in Chandigarh, Kejriwal said his government achieved significant progress in Delhi despite repeated attempts to obstruct their work.

“We Delivered Despite Obstacles”

Kejriwal stated, “Despite being prevented from working, we performed well. I should be given the Nobel Prize for governance and administration for achieving so much despite the Lieutenant Governor and various challenges.” His comment quickly sparked backlash from political opponents.

BJP’s Sharp Reaction: “Absurd Claim”

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva slammed Kejriwal’s statement, calling it absurd. “Demanding a Nobel Prize for himself is laughable. If there were awards for incompetence, anarchy, and corruption, he’d be a front-runner,” he said. Sachdeva cited several alleged scams during AAP’s tenure, including:

Installation of panic buttons in public buses

Construction of school classrooms

Women’s pension scheme

Liquor licensing policy

Lavish renovation of the Chief Minister’s residence (“Sheesh Mahal”)

AAP Fires Back: “Time to Deliver”

In response, former Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj hit back at the BJP. “Sachdeva is now in power. It’s time to govern, not just point fingers. Delhi is looking for action, not blame games,” he said.

Kejriwal Defends Record: “Built on Honesty and Transparency”

Kejriwal defended his administration, emphasizing AAP’s commitment to clean governance. “If our ministers were corrupt, this model wouldn’t survive. We stopped corruption and used that money to improve schools, hospitals, and provide free electricity,” he stated. He also criticized previous governments for claiming the treasury was empty while failing to deliver basic services.
