Kharge's witty jab: 'We get the love, Modi gets the marriage' has Rajya Sabha in stitches

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amidst the emotional and serious atmosphere of the farewell ceremony for the retiring Rajya Sabha MPs, some light moments were also seen. Several senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, shared their thoughts.
During the farewell ceremony, Mallikarjun Kharge, while wishing former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda well, made a witty remark that brought laughter to the entire House. Even Prime Minister Modi couldn't contain his laughter.

Kharge said in his address, "I have known Deve Gowda for 54 years and worked with him for a long time. He loved us, but married Modi." As soon as he said this, the House erupted in laughter.

Kharge didn't stop there with a light-hearted dig at Athawale. He also took a jab at Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, saying that he always praises Prime Minister Modi through his poems and doesn't seem to know any other poems. This comment also sparked laughter in the House.
Earlier, in his address , Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the contributions of the outgoing MPs and wished them well for their future. He said that the spirit of service never ends in public life and there is no full stop in politics.
"There's no retirement in politics," Kharge said in his speech, noting that those who remain active in public life, driven by their passion for serving the nation, never tire or truly retire. While the farewell ceremony commemorated the contributions of veteran MPs, the lighthearted nature of the leaders made the atmosphere memorable.
