Kulgam Encounter Enters 9th Day: 2 Soldiers Martyred, 3 Terrorists Killed

Kulgam (The Uttam Hindu): The encounter between security forces and terrorists in Akhal Devsar area of Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir continues for the ninth day today. So far three terrorists have been reported killed in the joint anti-terror operation of Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, although officially only the body of one terrorist has been recovered.


Encounter continues for the 9th day in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, 2 soldiers martyred, 2 injured, 3 terrorists killed : Four army personnel were injured in the heavy firing last night, two of whom succumbed during treatment. The martyred soldiers have been identified as Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh. The Army's Chinar Corps paid tribute to the martyrs on the social media platform 'X' and wrote, "The Army expresses solidarity with the bereaved families. The operation is still going on."


This encounter has been going on since August 1 and has become the longest anti-terror operation in the Kashmir Valley this year so far. Security forces have surrounded the entire forest area and the search operation has been intensified to nab the terrorists.


Meanwhile, the crackdown on Pakistan-backed terrorist networks has also been tightened in Kishtwar district. According to DSP Headquarters, Kishtwar, raids have been conducted at the hideouts of local operatives who were in touch with Pakistan-based terrorists. Security agencies believe that some terrorists may still be hiding in the forest. The operation will continue until the entire area is freed from terrorists.
