Nainital (The Uttam Hindu): The Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday presented a unique case, where the court not only reunited a couple in love but also ordered their marriage under police protection. A young man from Udham Singh Nagar had filed a petition in the high court seeking his girlfriend's release from house arrest by her family. The unusual decision came after a hearing.

A young man from Udham Singh Nagar filed a petition in the High Court alleging that his girlfriend's family in Yamunanagar, Haryana, was holding her captive and preventing their marriage. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a division bench comprising Chief Justice G. Narinder and Justice Alok Mehra ordered the girl and her family to appear via video conferencing.

During the hearing, when the court asked the woman if she wanted to marry her boyfriend, she agreed without hesitation. The woman told the court that she and her boyfriend had known each other for the past 10 years and that she had complete trust in him.

The woman also told the court that her family was initially unhappy with the relationship, but now they have also agreed to their marriage. When the court asked the woman's mother about this, she also said, "We had objections before, but not now. Wherever our daughter is happy, we support her."

After hearing the consent of both parties and their vows of life and death, the High Court cleared the way for the couple's marriage. The court directed the Yamunanagar police to provide full security to the young man and his family a day before the wedding. It also directed them to ensure that there are no disruptions during the wedding and that the couple is provided with security even during that time. Following this court decision, the wedding will now be solemnized in the presence of both families.
