New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Centre has taken a serious view of rumours about LPG shortages and issued a strict advisory to all states and Union Territories to curb panic among consumers.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified that there is no shortage of cooking gas and said misinformation has led to panic buying in several areas. It asked states to ensure regular communication, including daily press briefings to reassure the public.

The Centre also directed authorities to take strict action against hoarding and black marketing through raids and close monitoring. Officials said the rumours were triggered by misinterpretation of global supply concerns amid West Asia tensions, stressing that LPG supply in the country remains stable.
