LPG supply stable: Ministry reports record distribution of 51 lakh cylinders in one day
Online bookings account for 95% of total bookings, and DAC-based deliveries have reached 90%. The ministry promotes digital bookings and advises consumers to minimize visits to distributors

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Sunday said that more than 51 lakh LPG cylinders were delivered on April 4 (Saturday) and there was no report of gas shortage at any distribution agency in the country.
The ministry said the share of online LPG cylinders in total bookings has increased to 95 per cent.
To prevent fraud at the distributor level, delivery authentication code (DAC)-based deliveries have reached 90 percent, up from 53 percent in February before tensions in the Middle East. The ministry has also advised consumers to use digital means to book LPG cylinders and to visit distributors only when necessary.
The ministry said that around 90,000 five-kg small LPG cylinders were sold on Saturday and 6.6 lakh LPG cylinders have been sold since March 23.
The ministry further said that small five-kg LPG cylinders are available with distributors and can be obtained by showing any valid identity card.
PNG is being promoted in the country. Since March, more than 3.9 lakh new PNG registrations have been made and 3.6 lakh new PNG connections have been supplied with gas.
States have been advised to facilitate new PNG connections for both domestic and commercial consumers.
According to the ministry, all refineries are operating at full capacity and there are adequate crude oil reserves. The country also maintains adequate stocks of petrol and diesel.
