Maj Gen Rachel Thomas Assumes Charge as Principal Matron, Army Hospital (R&R)

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Major General Rachel Thomas assumed the prestigious appointment of Principal Matron at Army Hospital (Research & Referral) on May 1, 2025. A distinguished alumnus of the College of Nursing, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Maj Gen Thomas was commissioned into the Military Nursing Service in 1988.
With an illustrious career spanning 37 years, she has served the Armed Forces with exemplary dedication across a range of clinical, instructional, and administrative roles. Her notable appointments include Joint Director (Hospital Services and Training), as well as Principal Matron at both Zonal and Command Hospitals.
Prior to her current role, she held the senior position of Brigadier MNS (Policy & Training) at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army), where she demonstrated outstanding leadership and strategic acumen.
