Major Action by ED in 750 Crore GST Scam; Junk Dealer's House Searched for 8 Hours

Sahibganj (The Uttam Hindu): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out a major operation in Sahibganj, Jharkhand on Tuesday morning. The ED team raided the house of Santosh Kumar Gupta alias Bablu, a junk dealer in Bengali Tola of the city. According to sources, this raid has been done in connection with the investigation of the GST scam of Rs 750 crore in the state.
According to the information, a four-member ED team arrived at Santosh Gupta's house in a white Innova car at around 7:10 am. As soon as the team arrived, CRPF personnel were deployed outside the house for security and investigation was started inside the house. During this raid that lasted for about eight hours, the officials interrogated the family members and scrutinized the documents.
As soon as the news of ED raid spread, a crowd of local people gathered outside Santosh Gupta's house. During the investigation, ED officials once went out somewhere with a boy from the house and returned after some time. An officer also called for a laptop from his car. After a long investigation of eight hours, the team left from there in the evening.
Locals said that Santosh Kumar Gupta alias Bablu lives in this house with his brother and deals in buying and selling junk. Sacks of junk were kept outside his house. Although ED officials have not officially shared any information with the media about the reasons for this raid, it is being linked to a big GST scam.
