New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has achieved a major success in its campaign against fugitive criminals. A CBI team arrested Lakhwinder Kumar, a fugitive associated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, from the United States on Saturday (October 25) and brought him back to India.

CBI officials stated that active coordination between the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs facilitated the return of wanted fugitive Lakhwinder Kumar from the United States to India. As soon as Lakhwinder arrived at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, a team of Haryana Police detained him.

A CBI spokesperson said in a statement that an Interpol Red Notice had been issued against Lakhwinder. He was wanted in several serious criminal cases in Haryana, including extortion, threatening, illegal possession and use of weapons, and attempted murder.

"On October 26, 2024, the CBI issued a 'Red Notice' against Lakhwinder through Interpol at the request of the Haryana Police," the statement said. Based on this notice, he was tracked in the United States. He was deported from the United States to India and arrived in Delhi on October 25, 2025, where he was arrested by the Haryana Police.

It is noteworthy that Interpol's Red Notices are sent to law enforcement agencies worldwide to track and apprehend wanted fugitives. According to the CBI, over 130 wanted criminals have been extradited to India in the past few years through improved coordination through Interpol channels.
