Major change in CBSE Class 10 and 12 datesheet, March 3 exams postponed; know the revised exam dates and full schedule

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important notification regarding the 2026 board examinations. The board has revised the datesheet for Class 10 and Class 12, postponing the examinations scheduled for March 3, 2026, citing administrative reasons. As per the updated announcement, the Class 10 postponed exam will now be held on March 11, 2026, while the Class 12 postponed exam has been rescheduled to April 10, 2026. Students can check and download the revised datesheet from the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in.
Subjects affected by the change
According to the revised schedule, Class 10 regional and foreign language papers including Tibetan, German, French, Kashmiri, Japanese and others, earlier set for March 3, will now be conducted on March 11. On the same day, exams such as Book Keeping and Accountancy will also be held.
For Class 12, the Legal Studies paper, which was earlier scheduled for March 3, has been moved to the last exam date, April 10, 2026. Notably, for the first time, Class 10 board exams are being conducted in two phases, starting from February 17 and continuing till July 15, 2026.
Class 10 main exam schedule
The Class 10 board examinations will begin on February 17 with Mathematics (Standard and Basic). This will be followed by English on February 21, Science on February 25, and Computer Applications/IT on February 27. In early March, Hindi will be held on March 2 and Social Science on March 7. The first phase of the exams will conclude on March 11 with language and other subject papers as per the revised datesheet.
Class 12 key papers and timings
The Class 12 examinations will now run from February 17 to April 10, 2026. Exams will be conducted in two shifts—generally from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, while some subjects will end at 12:30 pm.
For Science stream, Physics is scheduled on February 20, Chemistry on February 28, Mathematics on March 9, and Biology on March 27.
For Commerce and Arts, Business Studies will be held on February 21, Geography on February 26, English on March 12, Economics on March 18, and History on March 30. The Legal Studies exam, now fixed for April 10, will be the final paper of the Class 12 board examinations.
