Man Throws Acid on Ex-Girlfriend After She Refuses to Talk; Arrested

Meerut (The Uttam Hindu): In a shocking incident in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a man allegedly orchestrated an acid attack on his ex-girlfriend after she refused to talk to him. The victim sustained serious burns on her hand and other parts of her body and was immediately admitted to a hospital.
In Lohia Nagar police station area, an unidentified minor threw acid on the young woman, causing burns to her hand and parts of her body. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured woman to a hospital. Investigation revealed that the accused had lured the minor with money to carry out the attack.
CO Kotwali Antariksh Jain said that a four-member police team was formed to arrest the accused. Based on CCTV footage from the area, the minor who threw the acid was identified and taken into custody. During interrogation, the minor revealed details of the entire case.
Police then began searching for the main accused, Mahendra Prajapati, conducting a cordon-and-search operation across the area. Information was received that Mahendra was near a culvert. When police pursued him, he attempted to flee on his bike but slipped and fell. Mahendra fired at police, and in retaliation, he was shot in the leg and subsequently arrested.
A pistol, two cartridges, and a bike were recovered from the accused. During questioning, Mahendra admitted that he and the victim were in a relationship, but the woman had stopped talking to him. After multiple unanswered calls, he became angry and bribed a minor with ₹2,000 to carry out the acid attack.
