Modi-Putin Call: Russia's President Briefs India on Trump Talks in Alaska

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News) - Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the conversation, President Putin gave information about his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska.
Expressing gratitude to President Putin, Prime Minister Modi said that India has always been in favour of a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict and resolving the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy. He reiterated India's support for every effort taken in this regard. PM Modi wrote on the social media platform X, "Thank you to my friend, President Putin for sharing information about his phone call and his recent meeting with President Trump in Alaska. India has consistently called for a peaceful solution to the Ukraine dispute and supports all efforts in this regard. I look forward to our continued exchange in the days to come."
The two leaders discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation and expressed commitment to further strengthen the India-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership. They also agreed to maintain mutual contacts.
Earlier, on August 8, Prime Minister Modi and President Putin had a telephone conversation. During that time, President Putin had informed about the recent developments related to Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi had thanked him for sharing the information in detail and reiterated India's permanent policy that the solution to any conflict is possible only through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.
Prime Minister Modi has also invited President Putin to attend the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit to be held in India later this year. He posted on X and said, "I had a very good and detailed conversation with my friend President Putin. We reviewed the progress of the bilateral agenda and reiterated our commitment to further strengthen the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia. Looking forward to hosting President Putin in India later this year."
It is worth noting that President Putin's last visit to India was in December 2021, when he attended the 21st India-Russia Annual Summit in New Delhi. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi made two important visits to Russia last year, the 22nd India-Russia Summit in July and the BRICS Summit held in Kazan in October.
