Muzaffarnagar Woman Leaves Four Children Behind, Elopes With Already Married Lover

Muzaffarnagar (The Uttam Hindu): In a startling incident from Mathura village in Muzaffarnagar’s Charthawal area, a 37-year-old woman, mother of four, has reportedly eloped with her neighbor, leaving her husband and children behind. The case has now escalated into a social and communal flashpoint in the region.
The woman, Ritu Kashyap, wife of Rajkumar, reportedly fled on September 6 with her neighbor, a man named Jabir, said to be involved with her in a love affair. She left behind her four children in the care of her husband. Rajkumar immediately filed a complaint at the Charthawal police station, after which police registered a case and began investigations.
As days passed without progress, local anger grew. On Friday, under the leadership of Swami Yashveer Ji Maharaj, a large mahapanchayat was organized in Mathura village. The gathering gave police one week to locate and bring back the woman. In a controversial move, the panchayat also announced a social boycott of all Muslim families within a 15–20 km radius of the village, declaring that no member of the Hindu community should maintain relations with them.
According to local reports, Jabir, the accused lover, has already been married twice but has no children. Meanwhile, Ritu Kashyap, the missing woman, is the mother of four. The incident has caused widespread shock, leaving residents questioning her decision to leave her family for a man with such a background.
Circle Officer (CO) Sadar, Ravishankar Mishra, confirmed that a case was registered based on the husband’s complaint on September 6. He assured that special police teams have been deployed to recover the woman safely and appealed to locals to maintain peace while the investigation continues.
