High Court Orders Builder to Return to India in Navjot Kaur Sidhu's Cheating Case

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed builder Gagandeep Singh to return to India from Dubai within a week and surrender before the police in connection with a cheating case filed by Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former Punjab minister and cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu. The court has also instructed authorities to confiscate Singh's passport.
Background of the Case
According to the complaint lodged by Navjot Kaur Sidhu on October 24, 2024, Gagandeep Singh, a Mohali-based builder, allegedly cheated her out of ₹10.35 crore by luring her to invest in his projects in Mohali and Zirakpur. Singh had introduced himself as a partner of Space Builders, Promoters, and OTH Builders and promised good profits.
Details of the Alleged Cheating
Navjot Kaur Sidhu claimed that she met Gagandeep Singh in 2018 and invested ₹10.35 crore in his projects through cash and bank transfers. However, after receiving the money, Singh stopped updating her about the project's progress and eventually stopped picking up her calls. When she asked for her money back, Singh gave her three cheques that bounced in the bank.
Next Hearing
The court has fixed August 20 for the next hearing in the case. The accused builder has been given a week to return to India and surrender before the police.
