3 Naxalites killed in Sukma encounter; security forces launch massive search

Sukma (The Uttam Hindu): Major news emerged from Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Sunday morning. An encounter broke out between security forces and Naxalites in the hilly terrain of the Bejji and Chintagufa police station areas. According to police, security forces killed three Naxalites in the operation. Weapons were recovered from the scene, and a search operation is underway in the area.
Three Naxalites killed in encounter with security forces in Sukma, Chhattisgarh; search operation underway: Sukma SP Kiran Chavan said that the DRG team had received information about the presence of Maoists in the area, based on which the operation was launched. During the patrol, Naxalites opened fire on the security forces, following which retaliatory action was taken. So far, three Naxalites have been confirmed killed in the encounter.
Security forces also achieved a major success in Bijapur district this week. On Tuesday, soldiers killed six Naxalites in an encounter in a national park area. The operation involved joint teams from the DRG Bijapur, DRG Dantewada, and the Special Task Force (STF). Weapons, explosives, and other items were recovered from the scene.
Following recent operations, the number of Naxalites killed in encounters in Chhattisgarh this year has reached 262. Of these, 233 Naxalites were killed in seven districts of the Bastar division, including Sukma. Additionally, 27 Naxalites were killed in Gariaband and two Naxalites were killed in the Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadh Chowki district of the Durg division.
