Pune (The Uttam Hindu): Tensions rose in Pune ahead of the "Schools' Echo" programme featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. A clash broke out between ABVP and NSUI workers at the CEOP Technological University campus in Shivajinagar, briefly creating tension on the premises. Both groups accused each other of assault, while police began investigating the incident.
The dispute reportedly began during preparations for the programme though police have not yet confirmed the exact cause or identified who initiated the clash. Maharashtra Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal alleged that attempts were being made to disrupt Rahul Gandhi's event, claiming it had received strong support from students.
The "Schools' Echo" programme is aimed at discussing issues affecting students, including education quality, rising fees, employment opportunities and campus facilities. The clash has intensified the political atmosphere ahead of the event, with police continuing to investigate the matter.
