POK Public Turns Against Terrorists: Lashkar Commander Chased and Thrashed

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the 'Operation Mahadev' of the Indian security forces, there are reports of unrest in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) and public anger against terrorist organizations. A journalist from POK has claimed that after the heavy losses in 'Operation Sindoor', there is tremendous resentment among the local people against terrorist organizations, due to which common people are now openly opposing recruitment. This anger has increased to such an extent that people have now started beating terrorist commanders in public.
The latest incident is from Kuiyan village of POK, where there was a lot of ruckus during the Namaaz-e-Janaza of terrorist Habib Tahir alias Chhotu, who was killed in 'Operation Mahadev' on July 30, 2025. Commander Rizwan Hanif, associated with the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, had to face strong opposition from the villagers.
According to sources, the family of Lashkar terrorist Habib Tahir, who was killed in Harwan, Srinagar, had clearly asked terrorist organizations to stay away from the funeral. Despite this, Lashkar commander Rizwan Hanif reached there with his armed companions. During the funeral, when Rizwan's nephew tried to threaten people by showing a gun, the crowd got angry. People beat up Rizwan Hanif badly with kicks and punches, after which he ran away from there along with his companions.
After this incident, the local people are now preparing to call a public 'Jirga' (local panchayat) to jointly counter terrorist recruitment and their activities. This is a sign of a big social uprising brewing against terrorism in POK.
Meanwhile, the POK journalist has also claimed that organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, HuJI and Al Qaeda have again started training camps in the area. In view of the current tense situation, the administration is also on alert. Recently, a conference organized by a person named Nauman Shahzad in Khurahat of Tehsil Hari Gahla of Bagh district was canceled. The administration had received information that armed people could participate in it, after which it was banned in view of security.
