Pawan Hans helicopter falls into sea near Andaman after Jharkhand crash; seven people were on board

Port Blair (The Uttam Hindu): Soon after the Jharkhand aircraft accident, another aviation incident was reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday morning. A helicopter operated by Pawan Hans crashed into the sea near Mayabunder. In a major relief, all seven people on board were rescued safely.
Emergency sea landing due to technical fault
According to senior officials of the Civil Aviation Department, the helicopter took off from Sri Vijaya Puram at around 8:45 am. Shortly after departure, at approximately 9:30 am, a technical problem developed near Mayabunder. As the situation worsened, the pilot carried out a controlled emergency landing in the sea.
All seven rescued in operation
A spokesperson for Pawan Hans stated that the helicopter was carrying two crew members and five passengers at the time of the incident. Rescue operations were launched immediately, and all seven individuals stranded at sea were brought out safely. Authorities confirmed that no one sustained serious injuries and all are reported to be safe.
Medical examination underway, probe ordered
As a precaution, all passengers and crew members have been admitted to a local hospital for medical examination. Aviation authorities and the administration have initiated a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the technical fault during the flight.
It is noteworthy that on Monday evening, a medical air ambulance aircraft crashed in the Chatra district of Jharkhand. All seven people on board that aircraft lost their lives.
