New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to leaders of all political parties in both Houses of Parliament seeking their support for the early implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. He emphasized the need for unity and urged Members of Parliament to actively participate in discussions, calling it an opportunity that goes beyond party lines and strengthens the foundations of democracy.

In his letter, the Prime Minister highlighted that a key discussion on the Act will begin in Parliament from April 16 and described it as a historic moment. He said that empowering women is essential for the country’s progress and for achieving the vision of a developed India. Referring to the growing participation of women across various fields, he noted that from science and sports to defence and entrepreneurship, Indian women are continuously making significant contributions and proving their capabilities.

He also recalled that in 2023, leaders from all parties had come together to support the Act demonstrating collective political will. Stressing that women constitute nearly half of the population, he said their greater participation in governance is crucial. After extensive consultations with experts and political parties, he stated that the time has come to implement the law in its true spirit and suggested that future elections including the 2029 Lok Sabha polls should be conducted after its full implementation.

The Prime Minister urged all parties to come together once again and pass the amendment unanimously describing it as a responsibility towards women and future generations. He expressed confidence that Parliament will rise above differences to achieve this milestone and said that such a step will strengthen democratic institutions, increase public trust and ensure broader representation in governance.
