New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday emphasized the importance of cultural ties between India and Russia, saying that people-to-people relations have always played a crucial role in the bilateral partnership. He announced that New Delhi will soon introduce a free 30-day e-Tourist visa for Russian citizens, along with a 30-day group tourist visa.

PM Modi stated that cultural cooperation has long been a key pillar of India-Russia relations. He said that people of both nations have shared mutual affection, respect, and emotional connection for decades. To further strengthen these bonds, India has recently opened two new consulates in Russia, which will make travel and communication easier for citizens of both countries and bring them closer.

He added that lakhs of devotees received blessings from the sacred relics of Lord Buddha during the International Buddhist Forum held in Kalmykia in October this year.

PM Modi said he is pleased that India will soon roll out free 30-day e-tourist visas and 30-day group tourist visas for Russians. According to him, increased human mobility will deepen people-to-people connections and create new opportunities for both countries. He also informed that two new agreements have been signed to promote this cooperation.

India and Russia will also work together on vocational education, skill development, and training. Student, scholar, and sportsperson exchange programs will also be expanded.

PM Modi expressed confidence that in the coming years, the friendship between India and Russia will help both nations face global challenges and strengthen their shared future. He thanked the Russian delegation for their visit to India.
