New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): In a major employment push, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday handed over appointment letters to over 51,000 newly recruited candidates under the 16th edition of Rozgar Mela, held across 47 locations nationwide. Addressing the event via video conferencing, PM Modi called these recruits “soldiers of nation-building” and praised the transparent hiring process done “without recommendations or bribes.”

This initiative aligns with the central government's vision to provide robust employment opportunities and streamline recruitment processes. Launched on October 22, 2022, the Rozgar Mela has already provided over 1 million government jobs to Indian youth.

Recruits Across Key Sectors

The newly appointed individuals will serve in departments like the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Postal Services, Health and Family Welfare, and Finance and Industrial Development, among others.

PM Modi emphasized, “Though your departments may differ, your mission is one – service to the nation. Whether it's safeguarding the country, delivering mail to villages, or advancing health missions – you are all contributing to a developed India.”

Focus on Skill & Future Jobs

He highlighted the importance of the next 20–25 years in shaping India's future and urged the youth to align their careers with the nation’s development goals. Quoting an ILO report, Modi noted that over 90 crore citizens benefited from welfare schemes in the last decade, which not only boosted social security but also created millions of jobs.

₹15,000 Incentive and 1 Lakh Crore Employment Package

PM Modi also underlined the role of the private sector in job creation. He announced an employment-linked incentive scheme, offering ₹15,000 to first-time jobseekers. The scheme includes a budget of ₹1 lakh crore, aiming to create 3.5 crore new jobs.

He concluded by saying, “India is rapidly moving toward becoming the third-largest economy, and it’s your hard work powering this growth.” Recruits will also benefit from over 1,400 e-learning courses via the iGOT Karmayogi portal for skill development and training.
